time changes the scenery, not the scene.

graphic design has always felt like problem solving to me. you're handed a number of pieces and requirements then asked to make something out of it.

my main goal in this ad was to put the three elements together in a way that makes you forget the initial claim of the contest, that "these 3 things don't go together" and leave you only focusing on the concept and story telling.

my second goal was to not only use 3 different subject matters, but to do them in 3 different mediums. one traditional drawing, one digital drawing, and one photograph.

the third goal was to go beyond the requirements of just using the provided resources without making anything feel forced or out of place. i wanted the piece to remain simple, and i didn't want anything in the ad that didn't have a reason for being there, such as having a fruit bowl in the background just to "technically" meet the requirements.

edit to "lol" a bit at being the last entry of a da contest for around the 5th time.

old habits die hard~

Amazing! I was hoping someone would take that idea and make it to where you didn't even notice it. Good job :)

thanks, it took a bit of thinking to get them to work together, but i'm curious how many people understood the use of the pineapple.

anyway, cheers. :)

pineapples in the past were used symbolically to let someone know they were welcome/invited. a lot of people tend to "pretty-up" their notes out of boredom/anxiety in ways like this after writing it while they wait to finally be able to deliver it.

you see stuff like lips and hearts today, but in the past a pineapple wouldn't have seemed out of place~

Great job, especially the story telling, but also the execution! Should be a finalist.
